Liberty Motor Company stands behind all our vehicles with industry leading warranties.
When a motor vehicle is modified for wheelchair accessibility, the vehicle has to be certified to ensure that it still meets US and Canadian Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS/CMVSS). Adaptive modifications to a vehicle must be performed by licensed manufacturers. Liberty Motor Company is a proudly licensed manufacturer of wheelchair accessible vehicles.
The Liberty Motor Company puts the safety of our customers first. Our vehicle design has successfully passed a series of comprehensive crash tests to ensure that each Liberty modified vehicle meets or exceeds all applicable federal safety standards.
Crash Tests for Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles
Liberty follows the crash test procedures mandated by CMVSS/FMVSS 301, Fuel System Integrity. This safety standard describes a series of crash tests that are designed to reduce the risk of death or injuries occurring from fires that result from fuel spillage during and after vehicle crashes and ingestion of fuels during siphoning.
These tests are important because lowered-floor wheelchair accessibility designs require modification to a vehicle’s fuel system. These crash tests ensure that modified vehicles continue to meet federal safety standards while providing easy wheelchair access.
Liberty modified vehicles are also certified for compliance with all required Canadian and United States Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards. The following list describes the areas of the Motor Vehicle Safety Standards that are affected by wheelchair access modifications, for which compliance certification is required.
