Full-size vans can be converted to either side- or rear-entry vans for wheelchair accessibility. They offer rear wheel drive, can tow a trailer, and have more interior space for wheelchairs than minivans do. Diesel engines are also available with these vehicles. To enter or exit a full-size van, a wheelchair user must normally use a lift, instead of a ramp. As a result, there are no inclines for the wheelchair user to travel. It is also possible for the lift on this vehicle to be transferred to another van, as long as the apparatus has not become too old and unreliable to be useful. Despite their benefits, however, full-size vans are more difficult to drive and harder to park in designated spots and underground parking than minivans are, due to their size. More importantly, they are less economical than minivans, as initial costs, maintenance, and depreciation are all higher for full-size vans.
