When a side-entry minivan is converted for wheelchair access, considerable changes are made to the structure of the vehicle.

Garages and driveways designed for one minivan will also not provide enough room (specifically, 8 feet of open space) for the ramp to be deployed from a side-entry vehicle. Furthermore, it could be difficult to find a place for wheelchair users to disembark on a one-way street, as ramp or lift access is usually found on only one side of a side-entry minivan.
