Vans With Wheelchair Lifts

Those who suffer from impaired mobility might want to consider purchasing or leasing a modified vehicle such as a wheelchair-accessible van.

Improve Mobility with a Wheelchair-Accessible Van

Customized accessible vans make travel safer and more comfortable for those who use mobility devices. Remaining in the mobility device makes entering the vehicle easier, removing the need to lift the person into a seat. It also is generally more comfortable for those who find standard seating awkward or painful.

"...It is possible to have the wheelchair replace any passenger seat in the van..."

There are two main ways to make a vehicle wheelchair accessible. One is with a lift. A lift is a plate attached to a motorized lift system which moves the wheelchair or other mobility device up to the same level as the body of the vehicle.

The other way is to use a ramp. A ramp will swing out or down from the body of the vehicle, allowing the mobility device to be rolled up into the body of the van. Ramps can either be manually moved into position or power assisted.

Both types of modification require a restructuring of the existing seating in the van for better accessibility. It is possible to have the wheelchair replace any passenger seat in the van.

Liberty Motor Company can modify an existing vehicle as long as there hasn't been any structural damage. New and used accessible minivans are also available for personal, commercial and paratransit uses. Call 1.888.578.8886 or send an email to sales@libertymotorco.com for more information.
